Description: Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani (softstem bulrush and great bulrush) is a species of flowering plant in the sedge family. It is a perennial herb. The central culm is erect and usually curved slightly to one side. This culm is dull green. The leaves are mostly basal and have wide sheaths around the stems. The inflorescence is generally a panicle of spikelets on long, thin branches which spread, arch, or droop. the spikelets in each cluster are sessile or they have short pedicels. Each spikelet is about 6-8 mm. Softstem bulrush can be found throughout the world.
