Description

Leucojum vernum (Spring Snowflake) is a bulbous perennials plant that grows to 5-14 in.(12-35 cm)tall and 9-12 in.(23-30 cm) wide. It is native to central and southern Europe. The leaves are dark green, strap-shaped, up to 23 cm long. The flowers are white ( green spots on its tepals), nodding, bell-shaped, 2.4-4 cm long, with has six similar looking petals. The flowers are hermaphrodite (having both male and female organs) and are pollinated by bees. It blooms in February to April. It prefers in full sun to part shade, and organically rich, medium moisture, well-drained soils.
