Tibouchina urvilleana ( princess flower, glory bush) is a species of flowering plant in the family Melastomataceae. It is native to Brazil. It is an evergreen shrub that grows to 12-15 ft. (3.6-4.7 m) tall by 8-10 ft. (2.4-3 m) wide. The leaves are elliptic, dark green, 4-6 inch (10-15 cm) long and 1-1.5 inch (2.5-3.8 cm) wide. The flowers are purple, about 10 cm (4 in) in diameter, with conspicuous stamens. The preference is full sun, and well-drained soil. They can tolerate the shade but will not thrive.
